Health Guarantee Information

All dogs sold and bred by Knightingale Schnauzers are represented and evaluated as accurately as possible. The puppies have vaccinations against Parvovirus, Parainfluenza, Adenovirus, Distemper, and have been wormed at least twice while they are with us. The puppies are never allowed outside of our home until they are ready to go to their new homes. It is the new owner's responsibility to continue to de-worm and check for parasites. A new puppy should be wormed every two weeks until it is placed on monthly heartworm preventative(we recommend speaking to your vet about a good age to start the prevention). Vaccinations should be no less than three weeks apart and no more than four weeks apart for a series of four until they reach 16 weeks of age. Rabies vaccinations cannot be administered before 12 weeks of age(Check your county's/state's regulations on rabies vaccinations) All pups are accompanied with an accurate and up-to-date medical history when they leave us. The buyer has 5 business days to have the puppy examined by a licensed vet. If the vet finds any life threatening illness, the buyer may exchange the puppy for one of equal value.. A Vet certificate must be presented attesting to the problem and must be within the 5 day period.

Why 5 days?

When a puppy leaves our home, we make sure that it is healthy at that time. Puppies can contract illnesses and diseases VERY QUICKLY by being exposed to unhealthy animals or an infected environment. It is the owner's responsibility to protect the puppy once it leaves our home.

To the best of our knowledge, every puppy is healthy and without disease when leaving our home. Failing to have the puppy checked by a licensed veterinarian within 5 days will void the health guarantee. If the veterinarian discovers the puppy to be unhealthy, it can be returned within the three day period for a refund of the purchase price or replaced with a puppy of equal value if there is a puppy available. This is provided the puppy is returned with a letter from the examining veterinarian stating in what respect the puppy is unhealthy. No refunds after the six day warranty period.

We, as the breeder, will not replace or refund for any reason including but not limited to allergy, mortality, landlord’s disapproval, family disagreement or any other problems not related directly to genetic health. Nor for a puppy’s illness caused by neglect, exposure to weather, injury, choking, poisoning, etc.

No warranty or guarantee is made to the temperament, life-span, size, color, show quality, or breeding quality of any puppy. Breeder will not be liable for any expenses including but not limited to any veterinary bills or other expenses. Should a licensed veterinarian diagnose the puppy with a life threatening birth defect, or genetic defect, the Breeder will replace the puppy, limited to five years from the date of purchase.

No refund or replacement will be made on a deceased puppy until a necropsy is performed to determine cause of death. Such necropsy must be performed by an accredited institution set up for such procedures such as the University of North Carolina. A necropsy performed by a local veterinarian will not be accepted. All expenses will be paid by the owner of the pup. The necropsy will accompany any request for replacement or refund.

We do not guarantee any puppy that has been given the leptospirosis vaccine unless discussed prior to the vaccine being given and a consultation has been had with a licensed veterinarian about the risk and benefits of the vaccine

Retained testicles, luxating patellas, bad bites, or hernias are excluded from this guarantee. The buyer must contact the breeder immediately upon discovery of an illness or defect. Any delay in doing so, voids this guarantee. The breeder at this time has the right to have the puppy examined by her veterinarian, at the buyer’s expense. This guarantee is null and void upon any evidence of abuse or neglect, or if the buyer fails to have yearly checkups with a qualified veterinarian. Proof of said maintenance must be furnished upon request of breeder.

No Guarantee shall be given once a puppy is home for training difficulties or ingesting foreign objects that require vet care and/or surgery. This is not the responsibility of the breeder.

No guarantee is given for any kind of worm or parasite. No guarantee is given for hypoglycemia (low blood sugar). This condition is not hereditary and is preventable with proper feeding methods and attention. This guarantee is non-transferable.

If a dog or puppy must need to be re-homed, the owner needs to contact the breeder first. We have many connections to help find the best family for the dog/puppy.
